Dental Internships Jobs
Dental interns assist doctors during treatment, participate in Dental Camps, treat some patients alone (depends on experience), and prepare case discussions. They should either be pursuing their education in Dentistry or should have completed it. They should be self-motivated individuals with the willingness to learn.
The primary responsibilities of a dental intern are: acquiring and applying new dental knowledge and skills; exemplifying punctuality, reliability, cleanliness, and initiative; maintaining a smooth flow for effective transitions in the office environment; recognizing that the office environment can change unexpectedly, and very quickly, demanding flexibility and organization under pressure; being able to perform and track several tasks simultaneously with accuracy; and exhibiting courtesy and friendliness to all patients.
While working with dentists, dental interns assist in suctioning and mixing bonding agents, mixing impression material, and light curing; starting the temporary crowns/bridges for patients, and realignment; preparation for bleaching; and in taking full mouth series x-rays quickly and efficiently, and taking computer images, i.e. both internal and external; setting up the Nitrous Oxide unit in all rooms.
Dental interns assist Endodontists in preparing burs, files, suction, x-rays. They assist Periodontists in preparing sutures, scalpels, suctioning, and mixing packing gum. They assist Oral Surgeons by preparing sutures, scalpels, suctioning, and retraction. And they assist Orthodontists in mixing cement and light curing and pouring up good study models.
Dental interns also get familiarised with office jobs - right from scheduling patients to dealing with outstanding balances such as old insurance, aged receivable, and billing.
