Forensic dentists are popularly known as deontologists. They use their skill in the dental field to help the law by solving the cases. They solve the cases by identifying both the victims of crimes and suspects.

They solve the cases by those who have died in natural disasters, car accidents, or fire. The forensic dentists may also testify the civil cases which involves in malpractice or personal injury. To become aforensic dentist you should complete doctor of dental science or DDS degree. After finishing the dental education you have to get trained in forensic deontology field. The training will be provided by American Academy of Forensic Science, the American Board of Forensic Deontology or the American Society of Forensic Deontology. The students of forensic dentists can also get additional training programs in the colleges. This training will be provided in the college like New York University, or the San Antonio campus of the University of Texas. The forensic dentist will work full time in government agencies. Like Coroner's or medical examiner's office.

They also have their own private practice and they work for these government agencies on the consolation basis. In addition they also work in the military for all branches when dealing with the criminal cases, the forensic dentists may help the police to identify the suspects and also they help to get the victims. If any victims have any bite marks, usually in a rape or murder case, the forensic deontologist will compare marks of the victims against the teeth of suspects who are known persons. They work by making an impression of the teeth of those who are suspected. These dentists will also identify the bite marks in the crime case which are found in wood, food and leather. In addition these forensic dentists may also give their opinion in civil cases and criminal cases. In civil trial these people will deal with workers' compensation, malpractice, and personal injury claims.
