Perform detailed fee-for-service dental billing and collections functions utilizing complex computer billing system for the School of Dentistry, Dental Faculty Associates, and Community Dental Center. Actively participate in a self-directed work team. Perform full accounts receivable follow-up on all accounts to include a review of patient demographics, unallocated patient payments/adjustments, and all open insurance claims regardless of why the account was selected for one of the following tasks within department policy and/or procedures: lockbox posting, commercial carrier inquiry follow-up, commercial carrier rejection processing, hard copy claim review, clinic adjustment requests from patient care forms, same day deletion requests, and hard copy requests, Michigan Medicaid Prior Authorization processing, NSF check processing, process unallocated commercial carrier payment reports. Utilize carrier web sites for claim follow-up and/or online claim submission. Perform all other duties as assigned by team leader, direct supervisor or manager.
3-5 years of fee-for-service dental billing either in a clinic or hospital setting .Thorough understanding of dental 3rd party billing requirements. Knowledge of online systems: Delta Dental of MI, WebDenis, CHAMPS, web-based claim verification, Change Healthcare EDI claim submission process. National Electronic Attachment system. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel and Word) and web skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills as demonstrated in customer service skills, and communication skills. Demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member. Advanced communication and comprehension skills. Experience in handling items of a confidential nature efficiently and professionally. Thorough understanding of HIPAA law. Excellent ability to multitask. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent attendance record.
Experience with Axium MiDent patient management and billing software system. Reasonable knowledge of University of Michigan and School of Dentistry policies and procedures.
This position is for the School of Dentistry located at Arbor Lakes on Plymouth Road.
