nnJob DescriptionnPosition SummarynnThe Registered Dental Assistant is a member of the interdisciplinary health care team which functions to meet the objectives of the programs of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***..  The Registered Dental Assistant will be responsible for providing complete in-scope care for all patients under the direction of the supervising licensed dentist(s), the Dental Director, by written protocols of the Management Staff.  nnnSchedule:nnnnFlexible, may require some evening and weekendsn nnnPrimary Duties and ResponsibilitiesnnnnReviews patient health and social history to ensure a comprehensive and complete dental chartnnnProvides patient education on various topics, including oral care techniques and overall dental health, to patients.nnnReview chart findings and exercises ordered services in accordance with established NECC Management, CHDP, American Dental Association, and other dental standards and guidelines.  nnnConsults with other members of the health care team regarding individual needs of specific patients, provides support for recommended actions and to facilitate referral of patients to appropriate resources and / or specialties.nnnDepending on expanded roles, education and training, the RDA may be privileged to perform X-Rays/imaging, remove sutures and dressings, tooth polishing, take impressions, apply fluoride and administer topical medications.nnnMay perform the following procedures under direct supervision: obtain endodontic cultures, dry canals with absorbent points, test pulp vitality, place bases and liners on sound dentin, remove excess cement from supragingival surfaces of teeth with hand instrument or floss, placement of post-extraction and periodontal dressings, coronal polishing, temporary cementation and removal of temporary crowns and removal of orthodontic bands.nnnParticipates in all case management and staff meetings. nnnProvides patient education classes as needed.nnnAssists in providing in-service training of all clinical, volunteer and adjunct personnel, to ensure optimal performance.nnnAccurately completes all forms required for operational and billing efficiency.nnnAssist in front office procedures, such as reviewing daily schedules to properly prepare appropriate trays and instruments, to ensure smooth operations. nnnMaintain a sterile and organized working environment according to current infection control procedures. nnnEnsure preventive maintenance is performed to maintain proper function of all dental equipment.nnnCommunicates with purchasing department and vendors to assure prompt receipt and store of all supply orders. nnnMaintain a positive and professional working relationship with all staff.nnnPerforms other tasks and duties as required or as assigned by Management Staff.nnnnJob RequirementsnMinimum RequirementsnnnMicrosoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)nExcellent Communication SkillsnExcellent Customer Service (Bedside Manners)nBilingual English/Spanish preferrednAbility to work as a team player and work independentlynReliable transportation nMust be able to travel from facility to facility nThis position requires 10 % travel outside the local area.  nnnRequired Education/Experience and/or Licensure/Certifications nnnnHigh school graduate or GEDnnnProof of completing radiation safety coursennnActive CA license and certification as a Registered Dental AssistantnnnOne (1) year minimum experience as a Registered Dental AssistantnnnKnowledge of Dentrix and Digital x-rays, preferrednnnCommitment to goals and philosophy of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.nnnCurrent CPR and/or BLS CertificationnnnValid State Identificationn nnnPhysical Requirements and Working Conditions nnnOSHA Category 1 – Involves exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.nnnnThe work is majority of the time sedentary in nature.  nThe employee is regularly required to communicate, frequently required to use repetitive motions, move, remain stationary, regularly push, pull and lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds.nMust possess mobility to work in a standard office/clinic setting (in some cases both settings) and to use standard office/clinic equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, read printed materials and use a computer, and communicate in person and over the telephone. nThe National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) states that employees will not be required to pull and lift up to 40 pounds.nn
