LOCATIONSan Antonio, TexasBitters @ US 281 Full Time EMPLOYMENT TYPENon-Exempt WORK SCHEDULEMonday - Friday occasional weekends PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITIONThis position is responsible for teaching approved curriculum to students enrolled in a program through Goodwill's Good Careers Academy. The instructor ensures all core competencies are covered and prepares students to pass professional exams and obtain employment in their field of study.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEssential functions:1.Facilitate learning on subject matter to students utilizing a variety of methods and techniques, such as lectures, discussions, distance learning, lab, hands-on practice, demonstrations, real life experiences, and examples to supplement the material.2.Ensure classroom atmosphere is conductive to maximum learning and implements effective teaching approaches that inspire students to achieve. 3.Meets course objectives, requirements, and strives to achieve learning outcomes. Integrate technology throughout the curriculum.4.Maintain learning objectives and curriculum content on lesson plan and syllabi templates for core course. 5.Provide campus managers with textbook change recommendations to align with new occupational standards.6.Develop new curriculum as practices in the field of study evolve. 7.Utilize flexible and creative approaches to best meet student needs, discourage student withdrawal, and maintain satisfactory retention. 8.Collaborate with Campus Manager, other GCA management staff, and course instructors to ensure courses consistently meet accrediting body standards and objectives of GCA and industry.9.Participate in Industry Alliance, curriculum review, faculty and other staff meetings as requested. 10.Assist students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.11.May initiate study groups in preparation for exams. Maintain a teaching assignment for each module. Administer tests and quizzes; issue lab assignments and homework; and track reports student progress, grades, and attendance.12.Maintain a clean and orderly classroom and lab area. Dispose of waste and byproducts according to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards and procedures.13.Develop and maintain partnerships in the business community and keep abreast of changes which may affect instruction.14.Assist with resume development and other career readiness courses. 15.Participate in and take an active role in graduation ceremonies. 16.Attend a minimum of 10 hours of annual in-service training.17.Attend continuing education training and successfully pass all assessments to receive credits necessary to renew certifications required to teach core class. Maintain certification and other credentials required to teach core subject. Provide copies of all continuing education and certificate renewals to the Campus Manager. 18.Assist the Campus Manager and Student Support Specialist to recruit and refer substitutes for your core subject. Arrange for a substitute during vacation and expected absence periods. Assist in substituting for other core classes when needed. 19.Adhere to, and ensure adherence to, all Loss Prevention and inventory control and compliance, risk management, and ethics policies and procedures. Safeguard donations and all Goodwill property and resources; secure from harm, theft, accidental loss, or disposal. Promptly investigate or participate in investigations for all reported incidents. 20.Responsible for providing excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and responding to questions and/or concerns in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.Other functions:To accommodate business needs and objectives, other duties may be assigned by a management member.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential performance requirement satisfactorily.
