Responsibilities* To provide clerical support to a clinical practice. Triage calls within established guidelines for immediate attention for patient conditions of an emergent nature. Transfer calls to appropriate area. Schedule new and return visits determining appropriate sub-specialty within a clinic based on symptoms described and urgency of the appointment request. Provide information to patient regarding billing procedures. Coordinate or schedule patients for consultations in other clinics, diagnostic studies and ambulatory surgery, may determine the sequence and coordinate appointment times. Maintain and update appointment schedules based on change in availability of dental and other professional staff. Determine existence of previous registration and obtain, verify and update insurance, financial, statistical and demographic information with the patient. Mail confirmation of appointment, notification of reschedule and reminders to patients. Instruct patients on proper diet or other preparations prior to visit or test within established guidelines. Prepare and distribute daily appointment schedule. Maintain and tabulate clinic data. Obtain, record and relay to physicians test results. Complete financial documents including type of visit, reason for service, charge for service and diagnostic code. Collect cash and credit card payments form patients using established guidelines to determine patient pay portion, insurance portion or professional courtesy as assigned. Required Qualifications* Demonstrated multitasking ability; knowledge of medical or dental terminology; knowledge of MiChart or MiDent scheduling and billing systems; reasonable knowledge of medical center policies and procedures;\u00a0ability to work in a team environment and to work well in a fast paced, large volume clinic with Oral Surgery and Hospital Dentistry patients, faculty and staff. Ability to keyboard with speed and accuracy and reasonable knowledge of business software and computer applications. All candidates must have excellent communications skills, excellent attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and an excellent attendance record. Desired Qualifications* Working knowledge of Aspect phone systems a plus. Previous experience in dental setting.
